To run Windows 8, Microsoft recommends using a computer that has at least:
- 1 GHz or faster processor
- 1 GB RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
- 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
- DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 10 or higher driver
- Windows 8 have a minimum 1024 × 768 screen resolution. If you attempt to run the new Windows 8 apps with less than this resolution (e.g. 1024 × 600, 800 × 600,)you’ll receive an error message.
- Using the 32-bit version of Windows 8 on a system with 1 GB of RAM will work. For a fast experience, using at least 2 GB of RAM is recommended
- Using Windows 8 on a single-core processor running at 1 GHz is possible but won’t
